| 10 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 11 | 11 | | SECTION 1. Chapter 305, Local Government Code, is amended |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | by adding Subchapter C to read as follows: |

| 13 | 13 | | SUBCHAPTER C. DISPLAYS ON MUNICIPAL AND COUNTY BUILDINGS |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Sec. 305.031. DISPLAY OF "IN GOD WE TRUST." The governing |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | body of a municipality and the commissioners court of a county shall |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | display "In God We Trust" in a conspicuous place on each building |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | owned, leased, or used by the municipality or county if the signage |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | bearing "In God We Trust" is donated to the municipality or county. |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | A donor must also pay the cost of any necessary installation fees |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | for the display. The phrase must be displayed on the outside of a |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | building. |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | SECTION 2. The governing body of each municipality and the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | commissioners court of each county shall comply with Section |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | 305.031, Local Government Code, as added by this Act, as soon as |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | practicable after the effective date of this Act. |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
