12 | 12 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
13 | 13 | SECTION 1. Subchapter I, Chapter 545, Transportation Code, | |
14 | 14 | is amended by adding Section 545.4015 to read as follows: | |
15 | 15 | Sec. 545.4015. OPERATION OF VEHICLE UNDER CERTAIN | |
16 | 16 | CIRCUMSTANCES CAUSING TIRE TO SPIN, LOSE TRACTION, OR LEAVE SURFACE | |
17 | 17 | OF ROADWAY; OFFENSE. (a) An operator of a stationary vehicle may | |
18 | 18 | not break traction to spin a tire of the vehicle by pressing the | |
19 | 19 | accelerator and increasing the engine speed. | |
20 | 20 | (b) An operator of a vehicle may not intentionally or | |
21 | 21 | knowingly accelerate the vehicle in a manner that causes any tire of | |
22 | 22 | the vehicle to: | |
23 | 23 | (1) lose traction; or | |
24 | 24 | (2) leave the surface of the highway. | |
25 | 25 | (c) A person who violates this section commits an offense. | |
26 | 26 | An offense under this subsection is a Class C misdemeanor. | |
27 | 27 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
