The bill would increase the penalty for the Class B misdemeanor offense of making or authorizing separate, sequential, or component purchases to avoid competitive bidding requirements to Class A misdemeanor level and would provide penalty enhancements up to third degree felony in certain circumstances. The bill would also increase the penalty for Class C misdemeanor violations of certain other competitive bidding provisions to Class B misdemeanor level and would provide penalty enhancements up to state jail felony in certain circumstances.It is assumed that any impact on state correctional populations or on the demand for state correctional resources would not be significant.  Local Government ImpactIt is assumed that any fiscal impact to units of local government associated with enforcement, prosecution, supervision, or confinement would not be significant.
