88 AN ACT
99 relating to job interview restrictions for releasees from the Texas
1010 Department of Criminal Justice.
1111 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1212 SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 508, Government Code, is
1313 amended by adding Section 508.1143 to read as follows:
1414 Sec. 508.1143. CERTAIN RESTRICTIONS ON RELEASEE JOB
1515 INTERVIEWS PROHIBITED. A parole officer may not:
1616 (1) limit the number of job interviews that a releasee
1717 may attend per day; or
1818 (2) prohibit a releasee from visiting a premises,
1919 facility, or location without specific approval for the visit by
2020 the parole officer if the visit is for a job interview and the
2121 releasee has previously been approved to visit the premises,
2222 facility, or location for a related purpose.
2323 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2424 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2525 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2626 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2727 Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
