10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Section 22.003, Education Code, is amended by | |
12 | 12 | adding Subsection (a-1) to read as follows: | |
13 | 13 | (a-1) In addition to all other days of leave provided under | |
14 | 14 | this section or by a school district, a school district employee is | |
15 | 15 | entitled to not less than two days of leave for compensation per | |
16 | 16 | year for wellness. Days of leave taken under this subsection may | |
17 | 17 | not be accumulated or deducted from an employee's accumulated | |
18 | 18 | personal leave. A school district shall adopt a policy regarding an | |
19 | 19 | employee's use of leave under this subsection, including procedures | |
20 | 20 | for the processing and documentation of leave taken under this | |
21 | 21 | subsection. A school district may not require documentation from an | |
22 | 22 | employee for days of leave taken under this subsection. | |
23 | 23 | SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2025-2026 | |
24 | 24 | school year. | |
25 | 25 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
26 | 26 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
27 | 27 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
28 | 28 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
29 | 29 | Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
