9 | 9 | | relating to compensatory time off for certain state employees. |

10 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

11 | 11 | | SECTION 1. Section 662.005(b), Government Code, as amended |
---|
12 | 12 | | by Chapters 109 (S.B. 2214), 765 (H.B. 4504), and 950 (S.B. 1727), |
---|
13 | 13 | | Acts of the 88th Legislature, Regular Session, 2023, is reenacted |
---|
14 | 14 | | and amended to read as follows: |
---|
15 | 15 | | (b) Except as provided by Section 662.010, and |
---|
16 | 16 | | notwithstanding Section 659.015 or another law, each of the |
---|
17 | 17 | | following state employees who is required to work on a national or |
---|
18 | 18 | | state holiday that falls on a Saturday or Sunday is entitled to |
---|
19 | 19 | | compensatory time off at the rate of one hour for each hour worked |
---|
20 | 20 | | on the holiday: |
---|
21 | 21 | | (1) an employee of the Department of Family and |
---|
22 | 22 | | Protective Services in the statewide intake division who receives |
---|
23 | 23 | | reports of abuse or neglect; |
---|
24 | 24 | | (2) a peace officer commissioned or appointed, as |
---|
25 | 25 | | applicable, by a state officer or state agency listed under Article |
---|
26 | 26 | | 2A.001, Code of Criminal Procedure; |
---|
27 | 27 | | (3) an employee of the Department of Public Safety |
---|
28 | 28 | | who: |
---|
29 | 29 | | (A) performs communications or dispatch services |
---|
30 | 30 | | related to traffic law enforcement; [or] |
---|
31 | 31 | | (B) is a public security officer, as that term is |
---|
32 | 32 | | defined by Section 1701.001, Occupations Code; or |
---|
33 | 33 | | (C) performs criminal intelligence analysis or |
---|
34 | 34 | | crime analysis work related to traffic law enforcement or other |
---|
35 | 35 | | criminal law enforcement; |
---|
36 | 36 | | (4) an employee of the Parks and Wildlife Department |
---|
37 | 37 | | who performs communications and dispatch services to assist law |
---|
38 | 38 | | enforcement officers commissioned by the Parks and Wildlife |
---|
39 | 39 | | Commission in performing law enforcement duties; |
---|
40 | 40 | | (5) an employee of[, or who is employed by] the Texas |
---|
41 | 41 | | Juvenile Justice Department who: |
---|
42 | 42 | | (A) performs [to perform] communication service |
---|
43 | 43 | | duties for the incident reporting center; and |
---|
44 | 44 | | (B) assists [to assist] law enforcement officers |
---|
45 | 45 | | appointed by the office of inspector general of the Texas Juvenile |
---|
46 | 46 | | Justice Department in performing investigative duties; [,] or |
---|
47 | 47 | | (6) [who is employed as] a security officer providing |
---|
48 | 48 | | security and entry searches for secure correctional facilities |
---|
49 | 49 | | operated by the Texas Juvenile Justice Department[,]. |
---|
50 | 50 | | SECTION 2. To the extent of any conflict, this Act prevails |
---|
51 | 51 | | over another Act of the 89th Legislature, Regular Session, 2025, |
---|
52 | 52 | | relating to nonsubstantive additions to and corrections in enacted |
---|
53 | 53 | | codes. |
---|
54 | 54 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
