77 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
88 AN ACT
99 relating to a wage increase for certain public school employees.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Section 22.107, Education Code, is amended by
1212 adding Subsection (b-1) to read as follows:
1313 (b-1) For the 2025-2026 school year, a school district shall
1414 increase the wages of each full-time employee, other than an
1515 administrator or an employee subject to the minimum salary schedule
1616 under Section 21.402, by $2 an hour over the wages received by that
1717 employee in the 2024-2025 school year. A district employee to which
1818 this subsection applies is entitled to wages in school years
1919 subsequent to the 2025-2026 school year in an amount that is at
2020 least equal to the amount paid by the district to that employee in
2121 the 2025-2026 school year if the employee has remained employed in
2222 the same position.
2323 SECTION 2. Subchapter F, Chapter 48, Education Code, is
2424 amended by adding Section 48.2521 to read as follows:
2525 Sec. 48.2521. ADDITIONAL STATE AID FOR COMPENSATION
2626 INCREASES FOR SUPPORT STAFF. (a) A school district, including a
2727 school district that is otherwise ineligible for state aid under
2828 this chapter, is entitled to annual state aid in the amount the
2929 district is required to pay for wage increases under Section
3030 22.107(b-1).
3131 (b) A school district shall use the amount received under
3232 this section for purposes of wage increases under Section
3333 22.107(b-1).
3434 SECTION 3. Section 21.402(c-1), Education Code, is
3535 repealed.
3636 SECTION 4. This Act applies beginning with the 2025-2026
3737 school year.
3838 SECTION 5. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
3939 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
4040 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
4141 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
4242 Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
