| 12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Section 46.03, Penal Code, is amended by adding | |
| 13 | 13 | Subsection (a-1) to read as follows: | |
| 14 | 14 | (a-1) Notwithstanding Section 46.02(a-5), a person commits | |
| 15 | 15 | an offense if the person carries on the premises of a public library | |
| 16 | 16 | a partially or wholly visible: | |
| 17 | 17 | (1) location-restricted knife, club, or prohibited | |
| 18 | 18 | weapon listed in Section 46.05(a); or | |
| 19 | 19 | (2) handgun, regardless of whether the handgun is | |
| 20 | 20 | holstered and regardless of whether the handgun is carried under | |
| 21 | 21 | the authority of Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code. | |
| 22 | 22 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
