| 10 | 17 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 11 | 18 | | SECTION 1. Section 2205.031(a), Government Code, is amended |

| 12 | 19 | | to read as follows: |

| 13 | 20 | | (a) This chapter applies to all aircraft owned or leased by |
|---|
| 14 | 21 | | the state, except as provided by Sections [Section] 2205.033 and |
|---|
| 15 | 22 | | 2205.0331. |

| 16 | 23 | | SECTION 2. Subchapter B, Chapter 2205, Government Code, is |
|---|
| 17 | 24 | | amended by adding Section 2205.0331 to read as follows: |

| 18 | 25 | | Sec. 2205.0331. DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY AIRCRAFT. (a) |

| 19 | 26 | | The Department of Public Safety is primarily responsible for |
|---|
| 20 | 27 | | maintaining and scheduling aircraft the Department of Public Safety |
|---|
| 21 | 28 | | owns and operates. |
|---|
| 22 | 29 | | (b) The Department of Public Safety shall base Department of |
|---|
| 23 | 30 | | Public Safety aircraft at locations throughout this state as the |
|---|
| 24 | 31 | | Department of Public Safety considers necessary. |

| 25 | 32 | | (c) A pilot of an aircraft the Department of Public Safety |

| 26 | 33 | | owns and operates must be an employee of the Department of Public |
|---|
| 27 | 34 | | Safety. |

| 28 | 35 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
