| 10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Chapter 1, Education Code, is amended by adding | |
| 12 | 12 | Section 1.007 to read as follows: | |
| 13 | 13 | Section 1.007. PROHIBITION ON THE REGULATION OF | |
| 14 | 14 | HOMESCHOOLS. Neither the Texas Education Agency, the State Board | |
| 15 | 15 | of Education, nor any educational institution described by Section | |
| 16 | 16 | 1.001 shall make any rule that has the effect of increasing | |
| 17 | 17 | regulation of an educational program described by Sec. | |
| 18 | 18 | 29.916(a)(1). | |
| 19 | 19 | SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2025-2026 | |
| 20 | 20 | school year. | |
| 21 | 21 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
| 22 | 22 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
| 23 | 23 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
| 24 | 24 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
| 25 | 25 | Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
