| 9 | 9 | | relating to a study regarding state assistance for the uniform |

| 10 | 10 | | group coverage program for active school employees. |

| 11 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 12 | 12 | | SECTION 1. (a) The Texas Education Agency, in |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | collaboration with the Legislative Budget Board, shall conduct a |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | study regarding state assistance for the uniform group coverage |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | program for active school employees. The study must include: |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | (1) an evaluation of the amount by which costs for |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | coverage under the program have increased since the last increase |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | in the amount of the state's contribution under Section 1579.251, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Insurance Code; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | (2) cost estimates for increasing the state's |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | contribution under Section 1579.251, Insurance Code, based on: |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | (A) an across-the-board increase in the amount of |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | the state contribution; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | (B) an increase in the amount of the state |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | contribution based on whether the employee has been employed by a |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | participating entity, as defined by Section 1579.002, Insurance |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Code, for 5, 10, or 20 or more years. |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | (b) Not later than September 1, 2026, the Texas Education |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Agency, in collaboration with the Legislative Budget Board, shall |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | provide to the legislature a written report that includes the |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | results of the study conducted under Subsection (a) of this section |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | and any recommendations for legislative or other action based on |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | the study. |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | (c) This section expires September 1, 2027. |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
