11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Section 30.012(a), Civil Practice and Remedies | |
13 | 13 | Code, is amended to read as follows: | |
14 | 14 | (a) With the agreement of the parties, and subject to | |
15 | 15 | Subsection (b), a trial judge may order that a hearing of a | |
16 | 16 | preliminary matter, an uncontested proceeding in which the court is | |
17 | 17 | approving an agreement, or witness testimony at trial may be | |
18 | 18 | conducted by electronic means, including satellite transmission, | |
19 | 19 | closed-circuit television transmission, teleconferencing, | |
20 | 20 | videoconferencing, or any other method of [two-way] electronic | |
21 | 21 | communication that is available to the parties, approved by the | |
22 | 22 | court, and capable of visually and audibly recording the | |
23 | 23 | proceedings. | |
24 | 24 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
