| 12 | 12 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 13 | 13 | SECTION 1. Section 140.011(a)(2), Local Government Code, is | |
| 14 | 14 | amended to read as follows: | |
| 15 | 15 | (2) "Local government" means: | |
| 16 | 16 | (A) a municipality wholly or partly located in a | |
| 17 | 17 | county described by Paragraph (B) or (C) [adjacent to a United | |
| 18 | 18 | States military installation]; [and] | |
| 19 | 19 | (B) a county in which a United States military | |
| 20 | 20 | installation is wholly or partly located; and | |
| 21 | 21 | (C) a county adjacent to a county described by | |
| 22 | 22 | Paragraph (B). | |
| 23 | 23 | SECTION 2. Section 140.011, Local Government Code, as | |
| 24 | 24 | amended by this Act, applies to the eligibility of a local | |
| 25 | 25 | government to apply for a disabled veteran assistance payment | |
| 26 | 26 | beginning with the fiscal year of the local government that ends in | |
| 27 | 27 | the 2025 tax year. | |
| 28 | 28 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
