| 12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Section 122.0331, Election Code, is amended by | |
| 13 | 13 | adding Subsection (e) to read as follows: | |
| 14 | 14 | (e) A manufacturer of voting systems used in an election may | |
| 15 | 15 | not enter into a contract, or extend or renew a contract, for | |
| 16 | 16 | software development services with: | |
| 17 | 17 | (1) a company or other entity headquartered in China, | |
| 18 | 18 | Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Russia, or Venezuela; or | |
| 19 | 19 | (2) an individual who is based in China, Cuba, Iran, | |
| 20 | 20 | North Korea, Russia, or Venezuela. | |
| 21 | 21 | SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only | |
| 22 | 22 | to an election ordered on or after the effective date of this Act. | |
| 23 | 23 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
