 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to the provision of information regarding certain public
 assistance programs by public schools.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1.  Subchapter A, Chapter 38, Education Code, is
 amended by adding Section 38.045 to read as follows:
 Sec. 38.045.  INFORMATION REGARDING CERTAIN PUBLIC
 ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS. (a) Each year and on a student's enrollment
 in a school district or open-enrollment charter school, the
 district or school shall provide to the student and the student's
 parent in any format the district or school determines appropriate
 information regarding the eligibility requirements for public
 assistance programs, including:
 (1)  the medical assistance program under Chapter 32,
 Human Resources Code;
 (2)  the child health plan program under Chapter 62,
 Health and Safety Code; and
 (3)  the supplemental nutrition assistance program
 under Chapter 33, Human Resources Code.
 (b)  The Health and Human Services Commission, in
 coordination with the agency, shall prepare and make available to
 school districts and open-enrollment charter schools in both
 physical and electronic formats a model form for the information
 required to be provided under Subsection (a).
 SECTION 2.  This Act applies beginning with the 2025-2026
 school year.
 SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
 Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
