11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Section 23.013, Tax Code, is amended by adding | |
13 | 13 | Subsection (f) to read as follows: | |
14 | 14 | (f) In this subsection, "historic site" means a structure or | |
15 | 15 | archaeological site and the land necessary for access to and use of | |
16 | 16 | the structure or archaeological site subject to an exemption under | |
17 | 17 | Section 11.24. In determining the market value of a historic site, | |
18 | 18 | the chief appraiser shall consider the effect on the property's | |
19 | 19 | value of any restriction placed on the property owner's ability to | |
20 | 20 | alter, improve, or repair the property based on the property's | |
21 | 21 | designation as a historic site. | |
22 | 22 | SECTION 2. This Act applies to the appraisal for ad valorem | |
23 | 23 | tax purposes of property that qualifies for an exemption as a | |
24 | 24 | historic or archaeological site only for a tax year beginning on or | |
25 | 25 | after the effective date of this Act. | |
26 | 26 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect January 1, 2026. |
