77 AN ACT
88 relating to the appraisal for ad valorem tax purposes of property
99 that qualifies for an exemption as a historic or archaeological

1111 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1212 SECTION 1. Section 23.013, Tax Code, is amended by adding
1313 Subsection (f) to read as follows:
1414 (f) In this subsection, "historic site" means a structure or
1515 archaeological site and the land necessary for access to and use of
1616 the structure or archaeological site subject to an exemption under
1717 Section 11.24. In determining the market value of a historic site,
1818 the chief appraiser shall consider the effect on the property's
1919 value of any restriction placed on the property owner's ability to
2020 alter, improve, or repair the property based on the property's
2121 designation as a historic site.
2222 SECTION 2. This Act applies to the appraisal for ad valorem
2323 tax purposes of property that qualifies for an exemption as a
2424 historic or archaeological site only for a tax year beginning on or
2525 after the effective date of this Act.
2626 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect January 1, 2026.
