66 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
77 AN ACT
88 relating to waivers permitting non-certified drivers to operate in
99 partnership with state-certified emergency medical personnel.
1010 SECTION 1. Chapter 773, Health and Safety Code, is amended
1111 by adding the following section:
1212 SECTION 773.055 EXTENSION OF NON-CERTIFIED DRIVING WAIVERS:
1313 (a) Any existing state waivers or emergency orders that allow
1414 non-certified individuals to serve as drivers for emergency medical
1515 services operations in partnership with state-certified emergency
1616 medical technicians and paramedics shall continue without
1717 requirements of variance requests after initial approval.
1818 (b) Any state waivers or emergency orders that allow
1919 non-certified individuals to serve as drivers for emergency medical
2020 services operations in partnership with state-certified emergency
2121 medical technicians and paramedics approved after the effective
2222 date of this Act shall continue without requirements of variance
2323 requests.
2424 (c) The Texas Department of State Health Services may issue
2525 rules to comply with this Act to ensure that providers understand
2626 updated requirements with the certification.
2727 SECTION 2. EFFECTIVE DATE: This Act takes effect September
2828 1, 2025.
