10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Chapter 773, Health and Safety Code, is amended | |
11 | 11 | by adding the following section: | |
12 | 12 | SECTION 773.055 EXTENSION OF NON-CERTIFIED DRIVING WAIVERS: | |
13 | 13 | (a) Any existing state waivers or emergency orders that allow | |
14 | 14 | non-certified individuals to serve as drivers for emergency medical | |
15 | 15 | services operations in partnership with state-certified emergency | |
16 | 16 | medical technicians and paramedics shall continue without | |
17 | 17 | requirements of variance requests after initial approval. | |
18 | 18 | (b) Any state waivers or emergency orders that allow | |
19 | 19 | non-certified individuals to serve as drivers for emergency medical | |
20 | 20 | services operations in partnership with state-certified emergency | |
21 | 21 | medical technicians and paramedics approved after the effective | |
22 | 22 | date of this Act shall continue without requirements of variance | |
23 | 23 | requests. | |
24 | 24 | (c) The Texas Department of State Health Services may issue | |
25 | 25 | rules to comply with this Act to ensure that providers understand | |
26 | 26 | updated requirements with the certification. | |
27 | 27 | SECTION 2. EFFECTIVE DATE: This Act takes effect September | |
28 | 28 | 1, 2025. |
