10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Section 419.0322(c), Government Code, is amended | |
12 | 12 | to read as follows: | |
13 | 13 | (c) A fire department may not, in a calendar year, | |
14 | 14 | compensate, reimburse, or provide benefits exceeding 20 percent of | |
15 | 15 | the total compensation paid to full-time fire protection personnel | |
16 | 16 | in the adjacent area to any individual designated as a volunteer or | |
17 | 17 | auxiliary firefighter [to a person the department has designated as | |
18 | 18 | a volunteer or other auxiliary fire fighter to the extent that the | |
19 | 19 | person would be considered fully paid fire protection personnel]. | |
20 | 20 | SECTION 2. This Act is effective September 1, 2026. |
