77 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
88 AN ACT
99 relating to the right of an individual unlawfully present in the
1010 United States to commence a civil action.
1111 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1212 SECTION 1. Subtitle A, Title 2, Civil Practice and Remedies
1313 Code, is amended by adding Chapter 5A to read as follows:
1414 CHAPTER 5A. COMMENCEMENT OF ACTION
1515 Sec. 5A.001. ACTION BY UNLAWFULLY PRESENT INDIVIDUAL
1616 PROHIBITED. An individual who is unlawfully present in the United
1717 States according to the terms of the federal Immigration and
1818 Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. Section 1101 et seq.), interpreted
1919 consistently with federal law, may not commence a civil action.
2020 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
