11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Section 17.002(3-a), Utilities Code, is amended | |
13 | 13 | to read as follows: | |
14 | 14 | (3-a) "Critical care residential customer" means a | |
15 | 15 | residential customer who has a person permanently residing in the | |
16 | 16 | customer's home who has been diagnosed by a physician as being | |
17 | 17 | dependent upon: | |
18 | 18 | (A) an electric-powered medical device to | |
19 | 19 | sustain life; or | |
20 | 20 | (B) an elevator to access or exit the customer's | |
21 | 21 | home. | |
22 | 22 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
23 | 23 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
24 | 24 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
25 | 25 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
26 | 26 | Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
