11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Chapter 571, Health and Safety Code, is amended | |
13 | 13 | by adding Section 571.0091 to read as follows: | |
14 | 14 | Sec. 571.0091. PROHIBITED EXCLUSION OF CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS | |
15 | 15 | REQUIRING SPECIALIZED CARE. An inpatient mental health facility | |
16 | 16 | may not deny admission to and may not discharge from the facility a | |
17 | 17 | patient with a bleeding disorder based solely on the individual's | |
18 | 18 | need for specialized treatments, including a bolus injection or | |
19 | 19 | subcutaneous injection, if the specialized treatment is a | |
20 | 20 | prescribed treatment for a bleeding disorder and administered by: | |
21 | 21 | (1) the individual; or | |
22 | 22 | (2) a licensed health care provider who is not a | |
23 | 23 | facility employee. | |
24 | 24 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
