611 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
712 AN ACT
813 relating to the disclosure of certain information by the Texas
914 Juvenile Justice Department.
1015 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1116 SECTION 1. Section 244.003, Human Resources Code, is
1217 amended by amending Subsection (b) and adding Subsection (c) to
1318 read as follows:
1419 (b) Except as provided by Section 243.051(c), these records
1520 and all other information concerning a child, including personally
1621 identifiable information, are not public and are available only
1722 according to the provisions of Subsection (c) of this section,
1823 Section 58.005, Family Code, Section 244.051 of this code, and
1924 Chapter 67, Code of Criminal Procedure.
2025 (c) The department may disclose information concerning a
2126 person who was committed to the department, including personally
2227 identifiable information, if:
2328 (1) the person:
2429 (A) has been discharged from commitment by the
2530 department;
2631 (B) is at least 18 years of age; and
2732 (C) has given consent for the department to
2833 disclose the information; and
2934 (2) the department does not disclose any information
3035 for which the person did not consent to disclosure and does not
3136 disclose any information for a purpose other than the purpose for
3237 which the person consented to disclosure.
3338 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
