| 11 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 12 | 12 | | SECTION 1. Subtitle A, Title 3, Special District Local Laws |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Code, is amended by adding Chapter 1123 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | CHAPTER 1123. SOMERVELL COUNTY HOSPITAL DISTRICT |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | SUBCHAPTER A. GENERAL PROVISIONS |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Sec. 1123.001. DEFINITIONS. In this chapter: |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | (1) "Board" means the board of directors of the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | district. |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (2) "Director" means a member of the board. |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | (3) "District" means the Somervell County Hospital |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | District. |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | SUBCHAPTER B. DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Sec. 1123.051. BOARD OF DIRECTORS. The board consists of |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | seven elected directors. |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Sec. 1123.052. TERMS; ELECTION. (a) Directors serve |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | staggered four-year terms. |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | (b) An election shall be held on the uniform election date |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | in May of appropriate years to elect the appropriate number of |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | directors. |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | SECTION 2. (a) A director of the Somervell County Hospital |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | District who is serving on the day before the effective date of this |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Act shall continue to serve until the director's term expires and |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | the director's successor has qualified. |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | (b) Notwithstanding Section 1123.052, Special District |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | Local Laws Code, as added by this Act, the directors of the |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | Somervell County Hospital District elected at the directors' |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | election held in May of 2026 shall draw lots to determine which two |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | directors serve two-year terms and which three directors serve |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | three-year terms. |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | (c) The directors of the Somervell County Hospital District |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | elected at the directors' election held in May of 2027 shall serve |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | four-year terms. |
|---|
| 43 | 43 | | (d) A director of the Somervell County Hospital District who |
|---|
| 44 | 44 | | succeeds a director described by Subsection (b) or (c) of this |
|---|
| 45 | 45 | | section shall serve a four-year term. |
|---|
| 46 | 46 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
