88 relating to the Texas Music Incubator Program.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 485.045, Government Code, is amended to
1111 read as follows:
1212 (a) After reviewing applications for a rebate under the
1313 program, the office shall grant rebates to eligible music venues
1414 and music festival promoters that the office determines provide or
1515 have committed to provide the most economic benefit to the
1616 communities in which the music venues are located or the festivals
1717 are held, as applicable, and to the Texas music industry, including
1818 live music performers.
1919 (b) The office is not required to act on any grant
2020 application and may deny an application because of inappropriate
2121 content or content that portrays Texas or Texans in a negative
2222 fashion, as determined by the office. In determining whether to act
2323 on or deny a grant application, the office shall consider general
2424 standards of decency and respect for the diverse beliefs and values
2525 of the citizens of Texas.
2626 [(b)] (c) As directed by the office, the comptroller shall
2727 issue a warrant for a rebate granted by the office under this
2828 section drawn on the Texas music incubator account.
2929 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
