77 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
88 AN ACT
99 relating to requirements for a court order following a permanency
1010 hearing for a child in the conservatorship of the Department of
1111 Family and Protective Services.
1212 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1313 SECTION 1. Section 263.5031, Family Code, is amended by
1414 adding Subsection (c) to read as follows:
1515 (c) At the close of each permanency hearing under this
1616 section, based on the court's findings from a review of the
1717 permanency progress report under Subsection (a)(4) and any evidence
1818 presented by persons entitled to present evidence under Section
1919 263.0021, the court shall render any orders that the court finds to
2020 be in the best interest of the child, including any orders necessary
2121 to ensure the department is meeting its obligations as managing
2222 conservator of the child.
2323 SECTION 2. The changes in law made by this Act apply to a
2424 suit affecting the parent-child relationship that is filed on or
2525 after the effective date of this Act. A suit filed before the
2626 effective date of this Act is governed by the law in effect on the
2727 date that the suit is filed, and the former law is continued in
2828 effect for that purpose.
2929 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
