| 12 | 12 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 13 | 13 | SECTION 1. Section 263.5031, Family Code, is amended by | |
| 14 | 14 | adding Subsection (c) to read as follows: | |
| 15 | 15 | (c) At the close of each permanency hearing under this | |
| 16 | 16 | section, based on the court's findings from a review of the | |
| 17 | 17 | permanency progress report under Subsection (a)(4) and any evidence | |
| 18 | 18 | presented by persons entitled to present evidence under Section | |
| 19 | 19 | 263.0021, the court shall render any orders that the court finds to | |
| 20 | 20 | be in the best interest of the child, including any orders necessary | |
| 21 | 21 | to ensure the department is meeting its obligations as managing | |
| 22 | 22 | conservator of the child. | |
| 23 | 23 | SECTION 2. The changes in law made by this Act apply to a | |
| 24 | 24 | suit affecting the parent-child relationship that is filed on or | |
| 25 | 25 | after the effective date of this Act. A suit filed before the | |
| 26 | 26 | effective date of this Act is governed by the law in effect on the | |
| 27 | 27 | date that the suit is filed, and the former law is continued in | |
| 28 | 28 | effect for that purpose. | |
| 29 | 29 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
