77 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
88 AN ACT
99 relating to the benefits available under the supplemental optional
1010 benefits program for state employees by the Employees Retirement
1111 System of Texas.
1212 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1313 SECTION 1. Section 659.102(c), Government Code, is amended
1414 to read as follows:
1515 (c) The supplemental optional benefits program may include
1616 permanent life insurance, catastrophic illness insurance,
1717 disability insurance, pet insurance, supplemental health
1818 insurance, prepaid legal services, [or] a qualified transportation
1919 benefit, or any other benefit approved by the comptroller or the
2020 Employees Retirement System of Texas.
2121 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2222 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2323 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2424 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2525 Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
