 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to the appointment and salary of bailiffs appointed by
 certain district courts in Webb County.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1.  Section 53.001 (a), Government Code, is amended
 to read as follows:
 (a)  Sec. 53.001.  MANDATORY APPOINTMENTS. (a)  The judges
 of the 30th, 70th, 71st, 78th, 89th, 161st, and 341st
 district courts, the judges of the district courts
 having jurisdiction in Taylor County, the judges of the
 county courts at law of Taylor County, and the judge of
 the County Court of Harrison County shall each appoint a
 bailiff.
 SECTION 2.  Sec. 53.009(d), Government Code, is amended to
 read as follows:
 (d)  The bailiff appointed by the judge of the 341st District
 Court is entitled to receive a salary set by the judge in an amount
 that is commensurate with the salary paid the bailiffs of other
 courts with similar duties. The salary is paid out of the general
 fund of the county.The bailiffs currently employed by the judges of
 the 341st and the 406th district courts shall continue in place with
 their current salaries including any future CPI or longevity
 increases granted by the Commissioners Court of Webb County until
 such time as those individuals are terminated or leave their
 current positions as bailiffs.
 SECTION 3.  Section 53.001(i), Government Code, is repealed.
 SECTION 4.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
