10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 241, Health and Safety | |
12 | 12 | Code is amended by adding Section 241.013 to read as follows: | |
13 | 13 | Sec. 241.013 DISCLOSURE BY HOSPITALS OF PEDIATRIC STANDARD | |
14 | 14 | OF CARE INFORMATION. (a) In this section, a hospital includes any | |
15 | 15 | hospital owned or operated by the state. | |
16 | 16 | (b) A hospital shall provide disclosure to the public | |
17 | 17 | regarding the standard of care available for pediatric patients. | |
18 | 18 | (c) The required disclosure information shall include | |
19 | 19 | whether the hospital is classified as a pediatric and adolescent | |
20 | 20 | hospital or a special hospital with the ability to provide | |
21 | 21 | emergency medical treatment and stabilization for pediatric | |
22 | 22 | patients, in accordance with nationally recognized standards. | |
23 | 23 | (d) The hospital shall provide disclosure to the public, | |
24 | 24 | including prospective patients, through the following ways: | |
25 | 25 | (1) verbally, when reasonable; | |
26 | 26 | (2) in a prominent location on their official internet | |
27 | 27 | website; and | |
28 | 28 | (3) by the hospital: | |
29 | 29 | (A) on any printed materials about emergency | |
30 | 30 | care; and | |
31 | 31 | (B) during the registration or check-in process | |
32 | 32 | for emergency services. | |
33 | 33 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
