8	7		AN ACT
9	8		relating to confirmation of a voter's residence by a voter
10	9		registrar.
11	10		BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
12	11		SECTION 1. Section 15.051(a), Election Code, is amended to
13	12		read as follows:
14	13		(a) The [If the registrar has reason to believe that a
15	14		voter's current residence is different from that indicated on the
16	15		registration records, or that the voter's residence address is a
17	16		commercial post office box or similar location that does not
18	17		correspond to a residence, the] registrar shall deliver to a [the]
19	18		voter a written confirmation notice requesting confirmation of the
20	19		voter's current residence if:
21	20		(1) the voter's residence address is a commercial post
22	21		office box or similar location that does not correspond to a
23	22		residence;
24	23		(2) on November 30 following a general election:
25	24		(A) the voter's name is not on the suspense list;
26	25		and
27	26		(B) the voter has not voted in any election
28	27		during the previous 25 months; or
29	28		(3) the registrar has any other reason to believe that
30	29		a voter's current residence is different from that indicated on the
31	30		registration records.
32	31		SECTION 2. If the 89th Legislature, Regular Session, 2025,
33	32		appropriates money to the secretary of state for the purpose of
34	33		providing additional funding for counties to administer the
35	34		requirements of this Act, the secretary of state may allocate the
36	35		appropriated amount to county voter registrars to defray the
37	36		expenses incurred by the registrars to comply with the requirements
38	37		of this Act.
39	38		SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
