117 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
128 AN ACT
139 relating to the confidentiality of certain information for a
1410 current or former administrative law judge for the State Office of
1511 Administrative Hearings.
1612 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1713 SECTION 1. Section 552.117, Government Code, is amended by
1814 adding Subsection (a-1) to read as follows:
1915 (a-1) In addition to the exceptions provided by Subsection
2016 (a), information is excepted from the requirements of Section
2117 552.021 if it is information that:
2218 (1) relates to the home address, home telephone
2319 number, emergency contact information, or social security number of
2420 a current or former administrative law judge for the State Office of
2521 Administrative Hearings, regardless of whether the person complies
2622 with Section 552.024 or 552.1175; or
2723 (2) reveals whether a person described by Subdivision
2824 (1) has family members.
2925 SECTION 2. Section 552.1175, Government Code, is amended by
3026 adding Subsection (a-1) to read as follows:
3127 (a-1) In addition to the individuals described by
3228 Subsection (a), this section applies to a current or former
3329 administrative law judge for the State Office of Administrative
3430 Hearings.
3531 SECTION 3. Section 25.025, Tax Code, is amended by adding
3632 Subsection (a-2) to read as follows:
3733 (a-2) In addition to the individuals described by
3834 Subsection (a), this section applies to a current or former
3935 administrative law judge for the State Office of Administrative
4036 Hearings.
4137 SECTION 4. The changes in law made by this Act apply only to
4238 a request for information that is received by a governmental body or
4339 an officer on or after the effective date of this Act. A request for
4440 information that was received before the effective date of this Act
4541 is governed by the law in effect on the date the request was
4642 received, and the former law is continued in effect for that
4743 purpose.
4844 SECTION 5. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
