| 11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Section 325.003(e), Government Code, is amended | |
| 13 | 13 | to read as follows: | |
| 14 | 14 | (e) Members other than the lieutenant governor and the | |
| 15 | 15 | speaker are subject to the following restrictions: | |
| 16 | 16 | (1) after a [legislative] member of the house of | |
| 17 | 17 | representatives serves two terms on the commission or a public | |
| 18 | 18 | member serves three terms on the commission, the individual is not | |
| 19 | 19 | eligible for appointment to another term or part of a term; | |
| 20 | 20 | (2) a [legislative] member of the house of | |
| 21 | 21 | representatives who serves a full term may not be appointed to an | |
| 22 | 22 | immediately succeeding term; and | |
| 23 | 23 | (3) a public member may not serve more than two | |
| 24 | 24 | consecutive terms, and, for purposes of this prohibition, a member | |
| 25 | 25 | is considered to have served a term only if the member has served | |
| 26 | 26 | more than half of the term. | |
| 27 | 27 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
