9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 674.001(2), Health and Safety Code, is | |
11 | 11 | amended to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | (2) "Fetal death certificate" means a death | |
13 | 13 | certificate filed for: | |
14 | 14 | (A) any fetus weighing 350 grams or more or, if | |
15 | 15 | the weight is unknown, a fetus age 20 weeks or more as calculated | |
16 | 16 | from the start date of the last normal menstrual period to the date | |
17 | 17 | of delivery; or | |
18 | 18 | (B) a fetus of any weight or gestational age | |
19 | 19 | whose family member requests a death certificate. | |
20 | 20 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
21 | 21 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
22 | 22 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
23 | 23 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
24 | 24 | Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
