| 11 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 12 | 12 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 33, Education Code, is |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | amended by adding Section 33.0836 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Sec. 33.0836. UNIVERSITY INTERSCHOLASTIC LEAGUE: SELECTION |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | OF LOCATIONS FOR STATEWIDE COMPETITIONS. (a) The University |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Interscholastic League shall select locations for statewide |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | competitions in extracurricular activities sponsored or sanctioned |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | by the league in accordance with this section. |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (b) For each extracurricular activity for which the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | University Interscholastic League sponsors or sanctions a |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | statewide annual competition, the league shall periodically issue a |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | statewide request for proposals from institutions of higher |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | education and other appropriate entities seeking to host the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | statewide competition during the year or years specified in the |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | request for proposals. |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | (c) A request for proposals must: |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | (1) specify the factors that the University |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Interscholastic League will consider in selecting the host for the |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | statewide competition; and |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | (2) require an entity to submit relevant information |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | regarding the capability of the entity to host the competition, |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | including available facilities, accommodations, and personnel. |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | SECTION 2. Section 33.0836, Education Code, as added by |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | this Act, applies only to a statewide competition to be held on or |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | after September 1, 2026. |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
