77 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
88 AN ACT
99 relating to a pay raise for certain state employees.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Except as provided by Section 2 of this Act, for
1212 the state fiscal biennium beginning September 1, 2025:
1313 (1) each full-time employee of a state agency,
1414 including an institution of higher education as defined by Section
1515 61.003, Education Code, is entitled to an increase in the
1616 employee's gross annual salary for each state fiscal year of that
1717 biennium in an amount equal to $10,000; and
1818 (2) each part-time employee of a state agency,
1919 including an institution of higher education as defined by Section
2020 61.003, Education Code, is entitled to an increase in the
2121 employee's gross annual salary for each state fiscal year of that
2222 biennium in an amount that is equal to the product of:
2323 (A) the ratio between the number of hours the
2424 employee works and the number of hours required of a full-time
2525 employee; and
2626 (B) $10,000.
2727 SECTION 2. Section 1 of this Act does not apply to a member
2828 of the legislature or to a member of a board, commission, or other
2929 governing body of a state agency, including an institution of
3030 higher education as defined by Section 61.003, Education Code, who
3131 may receive a per diem or expense reimbursement but not a salary for
3232 full-time employment.
3333 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
