77 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
88 AN ACT
99 relating to information made available to a relative or other
1010 designated caregiver.
1111 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1212 SECTION 1. Section 264.7541(c), Family Code, is amended to
1313 read as follows:
1414 (c) Once a child is placed with a relative or other
1515 designated caregiver, the department shall inform the caregiver in
1616 writing of:
1717 (1) the option to become verified by a licensed
1818 child-placing agency to operate an agency foster home, if
1919 applicable, and the process for becoming an agency foster home;
2020 (2) the difference between an unverified relative or
2121 other designated caregiver and an agency foster home, including the
2222 amount of additional financial assistance the relative or other
2323 designated caregiver would receive after becoming an agency foster
2424 home;
2525 (3) the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
2626 program including:
2727 (A) the qualifications for the program;
2828 (B) the process for applying for benefits under
2929 the program; and
3030 (C) the amount of financial benefits under the
3131 program;
3232 (4) the availability of any financial assistance
3333 available under this subchapter;
3434 (5) [and
3535 [(2)] the permanency care assistance program under
3636 Subchapter K; and
3737 (6) any other financial benefit available to a
3838 relative or other designated caregiver.
3939 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
