10 | 13 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

11 | 14 | | SECTION 1. Section 157.021(a), Local Government Code, is |
---|
12 | 15 | | amended to read as follows: |

13 | 16 | | (a) In a county with a population of 265,000 [355,000] or |
---|
14 | 17 | | more, the commissioners court may adopt and enforce uniform rules |
---|
15 | 18 | | on the hours of work of department heads, assistants, deputies, and |
---|
16 | 19 | | other employees whose compensation is set or approved by the court. |
---|
17 | 20 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
---|
18 | 21 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
---|
19 | 22 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
---|
20 | 23 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
---|
21 | 24 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
