11 | 11 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
12 | 12 | SECTION 1. Section 434.032(a), Government Code, is amended | |
13 | 13 | to read as follows: | |
14 | 14 | (a) In a county with a population of 200,000 or more, the | |
15 | 15 | commissioners court shall maintain a veterans county service | |
16 | 16 | office. The office must: | |
17 | 17 | (1) be separate and distinct from other county | |
18 | 18 | offices; | |
19 | 19 | (2) be staffed by at least one full-time employee; and | |
20 | 20 | (3) report directly to the commissioners court or a | |
21 | 21 | designated county executive official. | |
22 | 22 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
