| 11 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 12 | 12 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 28, Education Code, is |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | amended by adding Section 28.0121 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Sec. 28.0121. HUNTER EDUCATION PROGRAM. (a) A school |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | district or open-enrollment charter school that offers a high |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | school program may provide to students in one or more courses |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | offered for high school graduation instruction on hunter education |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | based on the curriculum guidelines developed under Subsection (b). |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (b) The State Board of Education shall develop curriculum |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | guidelines for hunter education. The curriculum guidelines must: |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | (1) be developed in cooperation with the Parks and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Wildlife Department; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | (2) meet the requirements necessary to receive a |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | hunter education certificate under Section 62.014(c), Parks and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Wildlife Code. |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | SECTION 2. As soon as practicable after the effective date |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | of this Act, the State Board of Education shall develop the |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | curriculum guidelines required under Section 28.0121(b), Education |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Code, as added by this Act. |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | SECTION 3. This Act applies beginning with the 2025-2026 |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | school year. |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | SECTION 4. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
