| 12 | 17 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 225, Transportation Code, |

| 13 | 18 | | is amended by adding Section 225.243 to read as follows: |

| 14 | 19 | | Sec. 225.243. CAPTAIN KEVIN WILLIAMS AND FIREFIGHTER AUSTIN |

| 15 | 20 | | CHEEK MEMORIAL HIGHWAY. (a) The portion of Farm-to-Market Road |

| 16 | 21 | | 2493 in Smith County between its intersection with Church Street in |

| 17 | 22 | | Flint and its intersection with County Road 150 is designated as the |

| 18 | 23 | | Captain Kevin Williams and Firefighter Austin Cheek Memorial |

| 19 | 24 | | Highway. |

| 20 | 25 | | (b) Subject to Section 225.021(c), the department shall: |

| 21 | 26 | | (1) design and construct markers indicating the |
|---|
| 22 | 27 | | designation as the Captain Kevin Williams and Firefighter Austin |
|---|
| 23 | 28 | | Cheek Memorial Highway and any other appropriate information; and |
|---|
| 24 | 29 | | (2) erect a marker at each end of the highway and at |
|---|
| 25 | 30 | | appropriate intermediate sites along the highway. |

| 26 | 31 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
