| 9 | 9 | | relating to endometriosis and menstrual disorders education and |

| 10 | 10 | | informational materials for public school students. |

| 11 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 12 | 12 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 28, Education Code, is |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | amended by adding Section 28.0044 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Sec. 28.0044. ENDOMETRIOSIS AND MENSTRUAL DISORDERS |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | EDUCATION AND INFORMATIONAL MATERIALS. (a) In this section, |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | "age-appropriate" means suitable to particular ages or age groups |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | of children or adolescents, based on developing cognitive, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | emotional, and behavioral capacity typical for the age or age |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | group. |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | (b) A school district may provide to students education and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | informational materials regarding endometriosis and menstrual |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | disorders at grade levels and in courses considered appropriate by |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | the district. |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | (c) The State Board of Education by rule shall adopt a list |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | of age-appropriate informational materials regarding endometriosis |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | and menstrual disorders and symptoms of endometriosis and menstrual |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | disorders. The materials must include information on: |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | (1) the timing, signs, and symptoms of endometriosis |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | and menstrual disorders; |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | (2) the importance of menstrual health and the impact |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | of menstrual health on a person's physical and emotional |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | well-being, social interactions, and academic performance; |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | (3) basic statistics on endometriosis and menstrual |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | disorders; |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | (4) best practices regarding methods to advocate for |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | one's own health care; and |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | (5) basic treatment options for endometriosis and |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | menstrual disorders and recommendations for follow-up care from a |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | health care provider. |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | (d) The State Board of Education shall make available to a |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | school district on request any informational materials included on |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | the list adopted under Subsection (c). |
|---|
| 43 | 43 | | SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2025-2026 |
|---|
| 44 | 44 | | school year. |
|---|
| 45 | 45 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 46 | 46 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 47 | 47 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 48 | 48 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 49 | 49 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
