13 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

14 | 12 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter Z, Chapter 22, Education Code, is |

15 | 13 | | amended by adding Section 22.905 to read as follows: |

16 | 14 | | Sec. 22.905. PROTECTION FOR USE OF TERMS CONSISTENT WITH |

17 | 15 | | BIOLOGICAL SEX. A school district or open-enrollment charter |

18 | 16 | | school may not discipline, retaliate against, or otherwise |
---|
19 | 17 | | discriminate against a district or school employee who addresses a |
---|
20 | 18 | | student or another district or school employee in terms consistent |
---|
21 | 19 | | with the biological sex of the student or employee. |

22 | 20 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
---|
23 | 21 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
---|
24 | 22 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
---|
25 | 23 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
---|
26 | 24 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
