11 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

12 | 12 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 433, Health and Safety |
---|
13 | 13 | | Code, is amended by adding Section 433.046 to read as follows: |

14 | 14 | | Sec. 433.046. LABELING OF MEAT, POULTRY, AND CERTAIN |
---|
15 | 15 | | RELATED FOOD PRODUCTS. In this state, a person may not sell meat, a |
---|
16 | 16 | | meat food product, poultry, or a poultry product unless the food's |
---|
17 | 17 | | label includes a clear and conspicuous notice stating whether the |
---|
18 | 18 | | food originated in this state. |
---|
19 | 19 | | SECTION 2. Subchapter F, Chapter 436, Health and Safety |
---|
20 | 20 | | Code, is amended by adding Section 436.083 to read as follows: |
---|
21 | 21 | | Sec. 436.083. LABELING OF SHRIMP. A person may not sell |
---|
22 | 22 | | shrimp in this state unless the shrimp's label includes a clear and |
---|
23 | 23 | | conspicuous notice stating whether the shrimp originated in this |
---|
24 | 24 | | state. |
---|
25 | 25 | | SECTION 3. As soon as practicable after the effective date |
---|
26 | 26 | | of this Act, the executive commissioner of the Health and Human |
---|
27 | 27 | | Services Commission shall adopt rules necessary to implement |
---|
28 | 28 | | Sections 433.046 and 436.083, Health and Safety Code, as added by |
---|
29 | 29 | | this Act. |
---|
30 | 30 | | SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
