| 12 | 12 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 13 | 13 | | SECTION 1. The heading to Section 501.069, Government Code, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | is amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Sec. 501.069. OFFENDERS WITH INTELLECTUAL OR DEVELOPMENTAL |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | DISABILITIES [DEVELOPMENTALLY DISABLED OFFENDER] PROGRAM. |

| 17 | 17 | | SECTION 2. Section 501.069, Government Code, is amended by |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | adding Subsections (c-1), (c-2), and (e) and amending Subsection |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (d) to read as follows: |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | (c-1) The department shall develop and identify community |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | resources to assist an offender described by Subsection (b) in |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | successfully reentering and reintegrating into the community. |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | (c-2) The department shall develop and implement a reentry |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | and reintegration plan that is person-centered and based on the |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | individual needs of an offender described by Subsection (b). The |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | plan may include the coordination of treatment, identification of |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | housing assistance, and delivery of other transitional services. |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | (d) The department may accept gifts, awards, or grants for |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | the purpose of providing the services described by this section |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | [Subsection (b)]. |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | (e) Funds appropriated to the department may not be expended |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | to provide residential housing assistance to an offender described |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | by Subsection (b) who is serving a sentence for an offense listed in |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Section 508.149(a). |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
