| 10 | 13 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 11 | 14 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter F, Chapter 2052, Occupations Code, is |

| 12 | 15 | | amended by adding Section 2052.255 to read as follows: |

| 13 | 16 | | Sec. 2052.255. IMMUNITY FOR RINGSIDE PHYSICIANS. |
|---|
| 14 | 17 | | (a) Except as otherwise provided by this section, a ringside |
|---|
| 15 | 18 | | physician is immune from civil liability arising from acts within |
|---|
| 16 | 19 | | the scope of the physician's responsibilities at a combative sports |
|---|
| 17 | 20 | | event. |
|---|
| 18 | 21 | | (b) The immunity from civil liability provided by |
|---|
| 19 | 22 | | Subsection (a) does not apply to a cause of action arising from an |
|---|
| 20 | 23 | | act or omission constituting gross negligence of the physician. |
|---|
| 21 | 24 | | SECTION 2. Section 2052.255, Occupations Code, as added by |
|---|
| 22 | 25 | | this Act, applies only to an action commenced on or after the |
|---|
| 23 | 26 | | effective date of this Act. |
|---|
| 24 | 27 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 25 | 28 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 26 | 29 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 27 | 30 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 28 | 31 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
