77 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
88 AN ACT
99 relating to judicial training requirements regarding family
1010 violence, sexual assault, trafficking, and child abuse.
1111 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1212 SECTION 1. Section 22.110, Government Code, is amended by
1313 adding Subsection (b-1) to read as follows:
1414 (b-1) The rules adopted under Subsection (b) must exempt
1515 from the training requirements of this section each judge or
1616 judicial officer, including an associate judge, who files an
1717 affidavit stating the judge or judicial officer does not hear cases
1818 involving family violence, sexual assault, trafficking of persons,
1919 or child abuse and neglect.
2020 SECTION 2. As soon as practicable after the effective date
2121 of this Act, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals shall adopt the
2222 rules necessary to implement Section 22.110(b-1), Government Code,
2323 as added by this Act.
2424 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
