10 | 15 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

11 | 16 | | SECTION 1. Section 614.102, Government Code, is amended by |
---|
12 | 17 | | adding Subsection (i) to read as follows: |

13 | 18 | | (i) Except as otherwise provided by this subsection, at |
---|
14 | 19 | | least 10 percent of appropriations for a state fiscal year from the |
---|
15 | 20 | | fund for the purpose of providing assistance to volunteer fire |
---|
16 | 21 | | departments under the program is allocated to departments in areas |
---|
17 | 22 | | of the state classified as being at high risk for large wildfires by |
---|
18 | 23 | | the service. If the amount of assistance requested by departments |
---|
19 | 24 | | described by this subsection in a state fiscal year is less than the |
---|
20 | 25 | | amount allocated under this subsection, the remaining amount may be |
---|
21 | 26 | | used for other types of requests for assistance. |

22 | 27 | | SECTION 2. Section 614.102(i), Government Code, as added by |
---|
23 | 28 | | this Act, applies only to an appropriation made from the volunteer |
---|
24 | 29 | | fire department assistance fund on or after the effective date of |
---|
25 | 30 | | this Act. |
---|
26 | 31 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
