| 15 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 16 | 12 | | SECTION 1. Section 202.259, Occupations Code, is amended to |
|---|
| 17 | 13 | | read as follows: |
|---|
| 18 | 14 | | Sec. 202.259. RESIDENCY [TEMPORARY] LICENSE. (a) The |
|---|
| 19 | 15 | | commission by rule may adopt a procedure for the issuance of a |
|---|
| 20 | 16 | | residency [temporary] license to an applicant [other than an |
|---|
| 21 | 17 | | applicant for a provisional license under Section 202.260]. |
|---|
| 22 | 18 | | (b) Rules adopted under this section must establish: |
|---|
| 23 | 19 | | (1) the criteria for issuance of a residency |
|---|
| 24 | 20 | | [temporary] license; and |
|---|
| 25 | 21 | | (2) a maximum period during which a residency |
|---|
| 26 | 22 | | [temporary] license is valid. |
|---|
| 27 | 23 | | SECTION 2. The following provisions of the Occupations Code |
|---|
| 28 | 24 | | are repealed: |
|---|
| 29 | 25 | | (1) Section 202.061; and |
|---|
| 30 | 26 | | (2) Section 202.260. |
|---|
| 31 | 27 | | SECTION 3. The change in law made by this Act to Section |
|---|
| 32 | 28 | | 202.259, Occupations Code, does not affect the validity of a |
|---|
| 33 | 29 | | license issued under that section before the effective date of this |
|---|
| 34 | 30 | | Act. A license issued under that section before the effective date |
|---|
| 35 | 31 | | of this Act that is in effect on that date expires according to the |
|---|
| 36 | 32 | | term provided on the date of issuance, and the former law is |
|---|
| 37 | 33 | | continued in effect for that purpose. |
|---|
| 38 | 34 | | SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2025. |
