77 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
88 AN ACT
99 relating to the costs associated with the assessment and
1010 destruction of certain deer.
1111 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1212 SECTION 1. Section 43.955(a), Parks and Wildlife Code, is
1313 amended to read as follows:
1414 (a) The department [applicable permit holder] shall pay all
1515 costs associated with:
1616 (1) an epidemiological assessment conducted under
1717 this subchapter to the animal health commission; and
1818 (2) [except as provided by Subsection (b),] the
1919 destruction of deer under this subchapter, including any costs
2020 associated with the disposal of the deer [to the department].
2121 SECTION 2. Sections 43.955(b) and (c), Parks and Wildlife
2222 Code, are repealed.
2323 SECTION 3. The change in law made by this Act applies only
2424 to the payment of costs arising from an epidemiological assessment
2525 conducted, or the destruction of deer commenced, on or after the
2626 effective date of this Act.
2727 SECTION 4. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2828 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2929 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3030 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3131 Act takes effect September 1, 2025.
