77 CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
88 WHEREAS, The Town of Trophy Club has demonstrated an
99 exceptional commitment to fostering patriotism among its
1010 citizenry; and
1111 WHEREAS, In 1985, the year of its incorporation, Trophy Club
1212 raised the American flag at the intersection of State Highway 114
1313 and Trophy Club Drive; this location at the entrance to the town had
1414 hosted Independence Day celebrations carried out by local families
1515 since the early 1970s; today, the flag continues to fly at the site,
1616 a proud symbol of the town residents' love of country; Old Glory is
1717 also displayed daily at seven other civic spaces thanks to the
1818 efforts of the Trophy Club Fire Department, and every Fourth of
1919 July, the Stars & Stripes Committee places flags along every street
2020 in town; and
2121 WHEREAS, Trophy Club originated as a small, golf-centric
2222 retreat that quickly became home to numerous Dallas-area executives
2323 and retirees; over the years, the master-planned town has grown
2424 into a lively residential community with more than 14,000
2525 residents; the population is deeply engaged in community-oriented
2626 activities, including school functions, church services, and the
2727 meetings of town advisory groups, clubs, and other organizations;
2828 local events such as the Medal of Honor Motorcade Celebration,
2929 Patriot Day Ceremony, and Memorial Day Ceremony are designed to
3030 bring people together, strengthen bonds, and encourage a spirit of
3131 service among citizens of all ages; and
3232 WHEREAS, In 2014, Trophy Club adopted a logo that reflects
3333 the town's deep sense of patriotism, and its red, white, and blue
3434 design features a star as a key element; the town has given its
3535 public spaces such names as Independence Park, Freedom Dog Park,
3636 and Harmony Park, signaling a love of liberty and unity and a
3737 respect for those who have served in the nation's military;
3838 Veteran's Memorial Park, located on land donated by the town, was
3939 established by the Trophy Club Women's Club and is maintained by the
4040 town in association with the Metroport Veterans Association; other
4141 patriotic civic groups include the Honor Our Wounded Military
4242 Foundation and Trophy Club Rotary; and
4343 WHEREAS, Since its inception, the Town of Trophy Club has set
4444 an inspiring example by making patriotism a centerpiece of
4545 community life and civic engagement, and its efforts deserve to be
4646 duly recognized; now, therefore, be it
4747 RESOLVED, That the 89th Legislature of the State of Texas
4848 hereby designate the Town of Trophy Club as the official Texas Town
4949 of Patriotism; and, be it further
5050 RESOLVED, That, in accordance with the provisions of
5151 Section 391.003(e), Government Code, this designation remain in
5252 effect until the 10th anniversary of the date this resolution is
5353 finally passed by the legislature.
