8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The Town of Trophy Club has demonstrated an |

9 | 9 | | exceptional commitment to fostering patriotism among its |
---|
10 | 10 | | citizenry; and |
---|
11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, In 1985, the year of its incorporation, Trophy Club |
---|
12 | 12 | | raised the American flag at the intersection of State Highway 114 |
---|
13 | 13 | | and Trophy Club Drive; this location at the entrance to the town had |
---|
14 | 14 | | hosted Independence Day celebrations carried out by local families |
---|
15 | 15 | | since the early 1970s; today, the flag continues to fly at the site, |
---|
16 | 16 | | a proud symbol of the town residents' love of country; Old Glory is |
---|
17 | 17 | | also displayed daily at seven other civic spaces thanks to the |
---|
18 | 18 | | efforts of the Trophy Club Fire Department, and every Fourth of |
---|
19 | 19 | | July, the Stars & Stripes Committee places flags along every street |
---|
20 | 20 | | in town; and |
---|
21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Trophy Club originated as a small, golf-centric |
---|
22 | 22 | | retreat that quickly became home to numerous Dallas-area executives |
---|
23 | 23 | | and retirees; over the years, the master-planned town has grown |
---|
24 | 24 | | into a lively residential community with more than 14,000 |
---|
25 | 25 | | residents; the population is deeply engaged in community-oriented |
---|
26 | 26 | | activities, including school functions, church services, and the |
---|
27 | 27 | | meetings of town advisory groups, clubs, and other organizations; |
---|
28 | 28 | | local events such as the Medal of Honor Motorcade Celebration, |
---|
29 | 29 | | Patriot Day Ceremony, and Memorial Day Ceremony are designed to |
---|
30 | 30 | | bring people together, strengthen bonds, and encourage a spirit of |
---|
31 | 31 | | service among citizens of all ages; and |
---|
32 | 32 | | WHEREAS, In 2014, Trophy Club adopted a logo that reflects |
---|
33 | 33 | | the town's deep sense of patriotism, and its red, white, and blue |
---|
34 | 34 | | design features a star as a key element; the town has given its |
---|
35 | 35 | | public spaces such names as Independence Park, Freedom Dog Park, |
---|
36 | 36 | | and Harmony Park, signaling a love of liberty and unity and a |
---|
37 | 37 | | respect for those who have served in the nation's military; |
---|
38 | 38 | | Veteran's Memorial Park, located on land donated by the town, was |
---|
39 | 39 | | established by the Trophy Club Women's Club and is maintained by the |
---|
40 | 40 | | town in association with the Metroport Veterans Association; other |
---|
41 | 41 | | patriotic civic groups include the Honor Our Wounded Military |
---|
42 | 42 | | Foundation and Trophy Club Rotary; and |
---|
43 | 43 | | WHEREAS, Since its inception, the Town of Trophy Club has set |
---|
44 | 44 | | an inspiring example by making patriotism a centerpiece of |
---|
45 | 45 | | community life and civic engagement, and its efforts deserve to be |
---|
46 | 46 | | duly recognized; now, therefore, be it |
---|
47 | 47 | | RESOLVED, That the 89th Legislature of the State of Texas |
---|
48 | 48 | | hereby designate the Town of Trophy Club as the official Texas Town |
---|
49 | 49 | | of Patriotism; and, be it further |
---|
50 | 50 | | RESOLVED, That, in accordance with the provisions of |
---|
51 | 51 | | Section 391.003(e), Government Code, this designation remain in |
---|
52 | 52 | | effect until the 10th anniversary of the date this resolution is |
---|
53 | 53 | | finally passed by the legislature. |
