Click here to see the committee vote SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION WHEREAS, El Paso has long been known for its rich cultural heritage, dynamic economy, and distinctive traditions, and it has gained a global reputation as a center for boot making; and WHEREAS, The city is home to iconic boot manufacturers such as Lucchese, Rocketbuster, Caboots, and Tony Lama, along with a host of other renowned businesses that have contributed to El Paso's growing influence as a leader in producing premier Western footwear; and WHEREAS, El Paso's array of boot makers includes multiple companies that have been in operation for more than a century, and the craftspeople who power the industry have proven their mastery of techniques that have been passed down for generations; and WHEREAS, In addition to producing products of exceptional quality, these businesses fuel the local economy, create jobs, and attract visitors from around the world to witness the handiwork of the city's artisans; and WHEREAS, Through their dedication to the preservation and promotion of their trade, the boot makers of El Paso have elevated the craft and furthered the cultural and artistic identity of the Lone Star State, and the city's role in promoting the continued vitality of this time-honored and uniquely Texan tradition is indeed deserving of recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the 89th Legislature of the State of Texas hereby designate El Paso as the official Boot Capital of Texas; and, be it further RESOLVED, That, in accordance with the provisions of Section 391.003(e), Government Code, this designation remain in effect until the 10th anniversary of the date this resolution is finally passed by the legislature. * * * * *
